I never liked the large spidery beast.
The beast dominated our living-room.
Even when I painted the beast white, he still spoiled all my photos with his gangly limbs.
THE BEAST HAS GONE at last.
In his place - a white lacy ball.
A white lacy ball that is by no means perfect - but which is pretty perfect for my living-room.
A quiet, understated, soft piece of whiteness that doesn't detract from everything else.
I LOVE my lacy ball !
My lacy lampshade lost it's shape a bit while I was trying to sew a fitting to it, so I may take it down and re-do it, but it's soooooooooo much better than the before.

Please take a moment to read this post from another dear friend, Maureen.
It is a very heartfelt piece about a child who was shot in the head because
she dared to blog about her life, something which we all take for granted.

Hi Fiona,
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how we will all live with something for so long that bugs us and when we finally change it, we wonder why it took us so long! Very nice lacy addition to the room and I'm sure it fits in with your style much more than the Beast. Have a great weekend!
Your lace lampshade looks lovely! Sometimes the smallest changes make the most difference.
ReplyDeleteThe story of that poor young girl is horrible!
I really like the lacy chandy! Thanks for passing on the word about Malala! We blog for fun but it can also be a very powerful thing.~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteIt is so pretty! Love the shape and the lacy material.
ReplyDeleteΙ read the story of Malala and I'm speechless! And I'm afraid that this is not the only one, how many other children have died just for expressing themselves and their rights? It shouldn't be this way, no.
ReplyDeleteP.S.: the lace addition to the lamp is so romantic Fiona, love the after shot.
ReplyDeleteAmazing Fiona, I pinned it.
ReplyDeleteBliss
I love it! It looks pretty perfect to me too!

The shade is very pretty and will put out nice reflections. You did an nice job on it, so give yourself credit.

Timeless Treasures.
Fiona, I luv your lacy lighting fixture. Beautiful close up shot!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever way to tackle the beast. Does it cast a lacy reflection on the ceiling?
ReplyDeleteFunny - we're on the same wavelength - I collected a bunch of doilies to do this exact thing. But of course I have not done it yet. I'm wondering if you could do this exact thing over a glass globe? I'm not sure if I will ever make this light because I haven't invented a place to put it. Have thought of sewing my doilies to a naked lamp shade frame though. The light is very pretty and I bet it makes nice shadows at night!
